SPC Celebrates Topping Out of New Welding & 汽车车身碰撞模型

At a ceremony held on 8月 24, 十大网赌正规网址官网区 Board Chair, Dr. Gene Sprague, joined 十大网赌正规网址官网区 Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores; St. Philip’s 大学 Vice President of Academic Success, Randall Dawson; and SPC administrators to celebrate the "topping out" of the new Welding & 汽车车身碰撞模型 located on St. Philip’s 大学 Southwest Campus. Maryanne圭多, Guido Construction的首席执行官, 凯瑟琳·金, General Manager of WestEast Design Group, were among those in attendance.

The new state-of-the-art Welding & Auto 碰撞 and Refinishing Building will be a one and a half floor, 62,000-square-foot facility. The building will be home to advanced instructional welding and autobody labs, 焊接站, and double bay automotive prep stations.

There are currently 170 students pursuing certificates and degrees in welding. The 焊接程序 prepares students to work in an industry that offers opportunities in manufacturing shops, 维修店, 钢结构建筑工地, 造船, 油田作业, 以及与牧场相关的焊接. 除了学生,圣. Philip’s 大学 educates welding professionals with H-E-B and Union Pacific Railroad as continuing education partners. SPC Southwest Campus is also an American Welding Society testing site. The site recently earned accreditation for an additional five years.

There are 110 students pursuing certificates and degrees in auto collision and refinishing.  The 碰撞/Refinishing Technician Program provides individuals with knowledge in basic and advanced collision repair processes using industry-standard techniques and equipment. SPC partners with area businesses such as ProCare 碰撞, to offer students real-world industry experience through donated vehicles and parts. Last Fall, students refurbishing a Nissan Cube for a 圣安东尼奥 community veteran.
